Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 24, 2026

Introduction

LastDevOps LLC ("LastDevOps", "we", "our", "us") operates the LastDevOps Applicant web application at applicant.lastdevops.com and related pages on lastdevops.com. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information.

Controller: LastDevOps LLC, LastDevOps LLC, Texas, United States. Contact: privacy@lastdevops.com.

LastDevOps Applicant is a self-serve interview preparation tool. AI scores and feedback are formative learning aids for you. They are not used to hire, reject, admit, or certify anyone for a job or program.

What Information We Collect

Account and profile

  • Email address — to create and secure your account.
  • Password — stored as a one-way hash (we cannot read your password).
  • Session data — IP address and browser user agent associated with signed-in sessions.

Interview practice content

  • Practice call audio — streamed from your browser to Google Gemini Live during a one-question practice call; we do not store the live PCM.
  • Live mock audio — streamed from your browser to Google Gemini Live during an in-app theme mock; we do not store the live PCM.
  • Legacy practice recordings — older record-and-grade audio files we may still store until you delete them.
  • Transcriptions — text from live input/output transcription (and from legacy practice audio when present).
  • AI assessment — level marks (for example Junior / Middle / Senior), covered/missed topics, and written feedback.
  • In-app feedback — messages you send to us through the feedback feature.

Automatic technical data

  • Essential session cookies needed to keep you signed in (see our Cookies page).
  • Application error and performance telemetry via Sentry in production (configured to limit personal data).

We do not use advertising pixels or third-party analytics SDKs in the Applicant app.

How We Use Your Information (purposes and legal bases)

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we rely on the following bases:

  • Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — account authentication, interview practice, transcription, AI feedback, and support.
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — processing your voice audio and sending it to AI providers for transcription and grading. You can withdraw consent by deleting recordings or your account; withdrawal does not affect prior lawful processing.
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — product improvement, security, abuse prevention, and practice reminder emails (you can unsubscribe). We balance these interests against your rights.
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — when we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.

We use Google Gemini to power live audio practice calls and live mock interviews (browser-to-Google), and Anthropic Claude to grade transcribed content and generate feedback. We grade the content of what you said, not accent, emotion, or delivery. We do not use emotion recognition.

LastDevOps does not train its own AI models on your data. Our use of Gemini and Anthropic APIs is subject to those providers' terms; we configure and contract for API use consistent with not using your customer content to train their foundation models where those options are available. Confirm current vendor settings with us if you need written assurances for your own compliance file.

Who We Share Information With

We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use processors that help us run the service:

  • DigitalOcean — hosting the application and stored files (United States).
  • Google (Gemini API) — live practice and mock interview streaming (and legacy practice audio transcription).
  • Anthropic (Claude API) — AI assessment and generated suggestions.
  • SendGrid — transactional and practice-reminder email delivery.
  • Sentry — error and performance monitoring.
  • Skool — the LastDevOps community that gates access to this app. We invite Skool members; Skool does not receive your interview audio or transcripts from us.

We may disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or in connection with a corporate transaction, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Voice recordings and biometric notice

When you start a practice call or live mock, your browser streams audio directly to Google Gemini Live; we store the text transcript and Claude grade afterward, not the live PCM. Older practice takes may still have a stored audio file we transcribed with Gemini. Some U.S. state laws treat certain voice analyses as biometric identifiers (for example Texas CUBI or Illinois BIPA). We collect or process audio only after you give informed consent in the app, only to provide transcription and content-based practice feedback, and we destroy stored practice recordings when you delete an answer or your account. We do not sell voice data or use it to identify you across other services.

International transfers

We process and store Applicant data in the United States. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, transferring personal data to the U.S. requires an appropriate safeguard under GDPR Chapter V (for example the EU–U.S. Data Privacy Framework for certified recipients, and/or Standard Contractual Clauses with our processors, plus a transfer impact assessment where required). Relying solely on “you agree to U.S. storage” is not our transfer mechanism. Contact privacy@lastdevops.com for our current transfer documentation.

Retention

  • Account and practice data are kept while your account is active so you can continue practicing.
  • Individual answers (audio, transcript, AI feedback) can be deleted by you at any time.
  • When you delete your account, we erase your user record and associated practice content, including audio files we store, subject to short technical backups and any legal retention duties.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including Texas TDPSA, GDPR/UK GDPR, and similar laws), you may have rights to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete personal data
  • Export / portability of data you provided
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Withdraw consent where processing is consent-based
  • Opt out of sale/share (we do not sell or share for advertising) and of certain profiling for decisions with legal effects (we do not use AI for hiring decisions)
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights

How to exercise: use Settings → Privacy in the app to export data, manage practice reminders, or delete your account. You can also email privacy@lastdevops.com. We aim to respond within one month (or sooner where state law requires, for example 45 days under Texas TDPSA where it applies).

Children

The services are for adults. You must be at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

  • TLS encryption in transit
  • Encryption at rest provided by our hosting provider's defaults
  • Access controls for administrative accounts

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.

AI transparency

Feedback, level marks, topic lists, and vacancy briefs are AI-generated. They can be wrong or incomplete. They are practice tools only—not employment, admission, or certification decisions. The live interviewer voice is synthetic audio from Google Gemini Live.

For EEA, UK, and Swiss users this is our Article 50 notice under Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 (the EU AI Act). The full notice is on our AI transparency page.

Emails

We send transactional mail (invitations, password resets, email verification, feedback replies) and optional practice reminders. Practice reminders include an unsubscribe link. You can also turn them off in Settings → Privacy.

Changes

We may update this policy. We will change the Effective Date above when we do. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy where permitted by law; for material changes that require consent, we will ask again in the product where appropriate.
